Cost - What is covered & duration
Cost
The cost of a “Pilgrims for Peace” pilgrimage is driven by such
factors as: number of days; cost of air travel; high or low season;
hotel rates; and most importantly, the rate of the euro to the US
dollar. A Pilgrims for Peace pilgrimage averages around $200 per
day. With the cost of air travel increasing, and the dollar not as
strong as it was 10 years ago, the cost of a Pilgrims for Peace
pilgrimage has increased over the past few years.  Whatever the
cost of the goods and services, that cost is passed on to the
pilgrims. No profits are made and no commissions are paid. The
Spiritual Director’s costs are paid for by the pilgrims.
What is Covered ?
The cost of a Pilgrims For Peace pilgrimage includes the following:
  • Round trip airfare from the Washington D.C. area
  • All hotels (in Fatima, Northern Portugal, Spain, and Lisbon)
  • 3 meals a day
  • Ground travel by private tour bus
  • Professional guides
  • Donations to all cathedrals, churches, and convents that we
    visit
  • All tips and gratuities
  • Administrative costs
  • Travel costs for our Spiritual Director
  • Your own tote bag, lapel pin & schedule booklets
Other costs
There are times when we take up a “free will” offering for a
speaker that we have invited after we have arrived, or for
someone who has spent extra time with our group for a specific
reason. This is strictly optional and can be handled with a check or
cash.
Duration of
pilgrimage
The calendar of activities determines the length of the
pilgrimage. To do everything on the schedule takes a minimum of
14 to 15 days. When there is a special event (like a Beatification,
Canonization, Translation of Sr. Lucia’s body to Fatima, or a 2-day
retreat given by Sister Angela), then the pilgrimage needs to be
increased by a couple of days.
